Coronavirus treatment medicine Paxlovid to arrive in Georgia this week


According to the Minister of Health Zurab Azarashvili, coronavirus treatment medicine Paxlovid will arrive in Georgia this week.

As he said after the meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council, the medicine will be given free of charge to those who have chronic diseases and severe forms of coronavirus.

"It is important that this week we will have Covid medicine. This is a special medicine - Paxlovid created by Pfizer. There are several countries in the world that have this drug and I am glad that Georgia will be one of such countries. The medicine will be given free of charge to those who have chronic diseases and severe forms of coronavirus. It is essential to take these medications for the first five days after infection. As for the doses and price, I prefer to leave it confidential because as the delivery will be in phases and we have a non-disclosure agreement,” said Zurab Azarashvili.
